Dr Aneta Wojnar from UWr to head the international COST Action project<\/h2>\n\n\n

We are pleased to inform that dr Aneta Wojnar from the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Wroc\u0142aw obtained a prestigious European grant as part of the COST Action (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) programme. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The results of the competition were announced on 20 May 2025. Dr Wojnar is the main initiator and proposer of the project and will be taking the role of the chairperson of the newly established FuSe \u2013\u00a0Testing Fundamental Physics with Seismology<\/em> research network in Autumn 2025. The University of Wroc\u0142aw will act as the grant holder, managing funds of approximately 600 000 EUR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new FuSe research network brings together 76 scientists from 29 countries in and outside of Europe, representing such fields as: theoretical ane experimental physics, physics of planets and stars, seismology, and artificial intelligence and Big Data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the FuSe \u2013 Testing Fundamental Physics with Seismology<\/strong> project<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

FuSe aims to build a bridge between fundamental physics and Earth sciences by studying seismic phenomena and earthquake precursors. The project involves the use of state-of-the-art technologies \u2013 including AI, machine learning, and analysis of large-scale data sets \u2013 in cooperation with small technological enterprises in order to translate scientific theories to concrete, practical solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The central idea of FuSe is that natural seismic phenomena may hide traces of unknown phsics and show new aspects of fundamental interactions. Analysis of seismic data in the context of fundamental principles of physics may open the way to the discovery of new phenomena and simultaneously deepen the knowledge about the Earth’s interior. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interdisciplinary approach of the project integrates various fields of science, contributing both to the development of theory and to potential technological applications – including the development of earthquake forecasting systems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Invitation to cooperation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Aneta Wojnar encourages scientists from the University of Wroc\u0142aw \u2013 especially experts in the fields of physics, Earth sciences, and data analysis \u2013 to join the FuSe network when the project starts in Autumn 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joining the project creates an exceptional opportunity for international cooperation, participation in innovative research, and influencing the development of breaktrhough technologies and scientific theories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
