Since they are often exposed to the weather, corrosion is an unavoidable process. This phenomenon leads to the formation of structural defects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The massive annual cost of corrosion (over 3% of GDP of all industrialised countries) is the reason for the constant search for methods that could prevent it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The paper titled <em>Corrosion Resistance of Fe-Cr-Si Alloy Powders Prepared by Mechanical Alloying<\/em> published by researchers from the Institute of Experimental Physics UWr, Magdalena Sobota,\u00a0 Karolina Idczak, Robert Konieczny, and Rafa\u0142 Idczak, in the scientific journal Coatings, describes the study of the anti-corrosion properties of two alloys of iron doped with chromium and silicon, in the form of microcrystalline powder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"945\" height=\"749\" src=\"https:\/\/wfa.uwr.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/216\/2024\/02\/MSobota-1.png\" alt=\"Corrosion Resistance of Fe-Cr-Si Alloy Powders Prepared by Mechanical Alloying\" class=\"wp-image-66795\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wfa.uwr.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/216\/2024\/02\/MSobota-1.png 945w, https:\/\/wfa.uwr.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/216\/2024\/02\/MSobota-1-300x238.png 300w, https:\/\/wfa.uwr.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/216\/2024\/02\/MSobota-1-768x609.png 768w, https:\/\/wfa.uwr.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/216\/2024\/02\/MSobota-1-24x19.png 24w, https:\/\/wfa.uwr.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/216\/2024\/02\/MSobota-1-36x29.png 36w, https:\/\/wfa.uwr.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/216\/2024\/02\/MSobota-1-48x38.png 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>To obtain materials resistant to oxidation, this study used the process of oxygen-induced surface segregation of dopant atoms.
