New Challenges and Opportunities in Physics Education

Springer Publishing has just published a book entitled “New Challenges and Opportunities in Physics Education,” which includes a chapter entitled “Future Competencies in Physics Education and Learning with Multimedia in Poland” authored by our employee – dr Tomasz Greczyło, UWr prof.
The book is primarily targeted at secondary school teachers and their pupils who would like to expand their knowledge of modern physics and endeavor to use scientific methods in class. This item is the fruit of an interactive and multi interdisciplinary approach that may help to prepare the current and future generations to face technological and societal challenges.
Instead of applying a unidirectional didactic approach, the authors – scientists, philosophers, communication experts, science historians, and innovators in teaching of science – divide the book in two parts. The first of which, titled “Communicating Contemporary Physics,” presents the way in which new achievements in physics influence modern culture.
The second part, titled „Digital Challenges for Physics Learning,” includes research on physics education using information and communication technologies (ICT) and presents teachers’ experience and an array of ideas and projects aiming to facilitate innovation in teaching of physics and STEM subjects.
