Structural Diversity and Stability of Organic–Inorganic Hybrid Quinuclidine-Based Metal Bromides

We are pleased to inform that an article co-authored by dr Piotr Staniorowski on the series of hybrid compounds (C₇H₁₄N)₂MBr₄ (where M = Co, Mn, Cd) combining organic and inorganic components has been published in the prestigious journal Inorganic Chemistry.
Despite similarities in the crystalline structure at room temperature, each of the analysed compounds shows a different phase transition mechanism in response to changes in temperature. Those transitions result from reorientation of quinuclidine cations and reorganization of hydrogen bond lattices.
Combined with dielectric and thermal measurements that confirm stability of the materials and presence of switching effects (ON/OFF), this research highlights the potential of this group of compounds as functional materials for temperature sensors and dielectric switches.
